Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body.

A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management. We view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue.

This stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers. The needles may cause some muscle sensations, such as a dull ache or tingling. I will ask you to report when you feel a deep heaviness or numbness. Those sensations usually mean the treatment is working.
How many sessions will I need?
It has been suggested to have at least 4 sessions to see if acupuncture is having an effect on your pain. After the 4th session, we will discuss and determine the next steps for you.
Having 8-12 sessions overall will see a larger improvement long term.
